William Ruto trashes President Uhuru’s track record

Deputy President William Ruto has trashed President Uhuru’s track record saying the Head of State has ruined the country’s economy.

This comes barely a month after President Uhuru Kenyatta claimed he had done better in his second than in the first term as president.

In a statement to newsrooms on Thursday, August 5, the second in command claimed that Uhuru’s administration abandoned its key agenda, especially in the second term of Jubilee after he (Ruto) was technically stripped of his duties.

“For the past four years, we have consistently and repeatedly raised concerns and objections to Jubilee’s abandoning of its agenda and solemn commitments upon which it was re-elected in 2017,”

“These sabotaged job creation, Universal Health coverage, Food Security and Manufacturing thus scuttling the entire Big Four plan,” Ruto’s team said in a joint statement after meeting with 135 MPs allied to him.

Ruto further accused the former National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders of misguiding his boss to mismanage the economy leading to stockpiling of public debt to unprecedented levels occasioning the current crisis.

“Regrettably, the NASA coalition, its principals, and their Jubilee collaborators took the government hostage, hijacked its agenda, and presided over the brutal/inhuman evictions/demolitions of the vulnerable and destruction of private property,” he said.

Speaking to Inooro TV on Wednesday, August 4, Ruto distanced himself from Uhuru’s poor track record saying he will not account for the failures of the Jubilee government, especially during the second.

He said he was a proper Deputy President for the first five years of the Jubilee regime where the government, i his own words, performed to its best.

“Unless you are a foreigner in Kenya, I was told to stay away and there are others to help the president, including NASA people who instead came to sabotage our (Jubilee party) plans. I can only account for the first five years as a Deputy President,” he said.
