The recently formed Kenya Kwanza Alliance has accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of perpetuating corruption at the county level.
Speaking during their visit to Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Ukambani region on Wednesday, February 23, the Kenya Kwanza leaders William Ruto and Musalia Musalia said the opposition leader Raila Odinga’s Capitol Hill office had been turned into a ‘corruption theatre house’ where those governors facing graft allegations troop with millions to have their names cleansed.
“Raila is responsible for promoting graft in counties. Corrupt governors visit his office with stolen money to be cleansed of corruption allegations,” Deputy President William Ruto said.
He further claimed that the 25 governors who held a consultative meeting with Raila Odinga at a Naivasha hotel earlier this year were ordered to channel at least KSh 20 million each from their coffers towards Raila Odinga’s campaigns.
The deputy president further said Raila has failed in his oversight role and instead went to bed with the government through the 2018 March handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said the handshake has given the opposition leader a loophole to not only steal from the public but also sabotage devolution and the big four agenda at the national level.
And as the race towards state house shapes into a two-horse race between William Ruto and Raila Odinga, the former Lang’ata MP appears to be gaining more support since more than 30 sitting governors have thrown their weight behind him.
However, the former Agriculture Minister said the majority of the governors supporting Raila Odinga’s fifth stab at the presidency have been implicated in corruption allegations and are after protecting their wealth they god threw corruption proceeds.
