Ahmednassir: August presidential election is between Uhuru and William Ruto

by Enock Ndayala
The battle for the August 9 presidential election is shaping up to what can be termed a two-horse race between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.

Outspoken city lawyer, Ahmednassir Abdullahi has dismissed ODM leader Raila Odinga as one of the front runners in the August 9, 2022, presidential race.

In an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday, February 23, Ahmednassir observed that the presidential race is technically a two-horse between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his estranged deputy president William Ruto.

“ I have said this and I am repeating again for the record. This election is a two-horse race; it’s between the President and the Deputy President. Raila (Odinga) is not a horse in this race neither is Kalonzo (Musyoka),” he said.

Outspoken city lawyer, Ahmednassir Abdullahi has stated that ODM leader Raila Odinga is not among the front runners in the August 9, 2022, presidential race.

According to Ahmednassir, both the deputy president and the former prime minister know the dynamics of the elections although the opposition leader has already given up.

He said the deputy president is very comfortable about those dynamics and that he is busy working while his main challenger in the presidential race (Raila Odinga) is comfortably seated somewhere expecting president Uhuru to do the hard work for him.

Ahmednassir argued that Raila, who in December announced that he will be giving his fifth stab at the presidency, would be the biggest loser should the deputy president beat his boss, Uhuru Kenyatta.

“If you look at for example the Sagana 3, it was an attempt by the president on behalf of Raila to shore up his (Raila’s) numbers (in Mt Kenya). If it does not work that will be a big minus for (the ODM leader),” he said.

He further argued that since Raila has given up, he is hiding behind his handshake partner President Uhuru Kenyatta who is negotiating with other regional leaders urging them to work with former NASA presidential aspirant.

“If you look at Kalonzo, the person who is looking for him and offering deals is not Raila because he has nothing to offer, it is President Uhuru looking for Kalonzo” he said.
