Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has mourned the death of DJ Evolve’s mum, the DJ he shot and injured in 2020.

In a post on his social media, Babu Owino said they became friends with Mary Hongo after he shot her son, Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve.

“Mum you were a mother to me, and a friend. We were united through a difficult situation, we had grown so close but God has His own reasons why this had to happen,” Babu Owino eulogized.

The Embakasi East said that DJ Evolve’s mum became like family to him after the shooting incident at Nairobi’s B Club in January 2020.

“As a family we are deeply saddened by your loss. You are forever loved and treasured.
We shall continue holding together and ensure your legacy lives on forever,” he added.

Babu Owino also condoled his victim(DJ Evolve) for the pain of losing his mother.

“To my friend Felix and your family I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. May God grant you peace, strength and comfort to go through this difficult moment in your lives,” he wrote.

The Embakasi East MP also shared some nuggets of wisdom that DJ Evolve’s mum had given to him.

“Mum You always told us to be strong no matter how big the storm is and to always put God first.
Rest In Peace Mum till we meet again.”

The condolence message from Babu Owino has not been well received by a section of netizens, who have accused him of being the cause of the family’s misfortune.

In January 2020, Babu Owino had a brief confrontation with Felix Orinda, who was a DJ at Nairobi’s B-club.

As captured on CCTV cameras, Babu Owino removed a gun from his pocket, cocked it and shot Evolve on the neck.

The incident left DJ Evolve fighting for his life in the ICU, and has since lost his mobility.

After his arrest, Babu Owino offered to cater for Evolve’s medical bills and was released on a cash bail of Ksh 10 Million.
