Analyst claims William Ruto has settled for Mathira MP as 2022 running mate

by Enock Ndayala

Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has sensationally claimed that Deputy President William Ruto could have settled for Mathira MP Rigathi Gacagua as his 2022 running mate.

Ndegwa said this at a time pundits say the 2022 presidential front runners William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga will rise or fall based on whom they settle on for the coveted number two slot.

In an interview with TV 47 on Tuesday, November 30, lawyer Ndegwa Njiru claimed that Ruto who has heavily invested his time and resources in keeping the vote-rich region under wraps for the past nine years could settle on the Mathira Member of Parliament.

Renowned lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has sensationally claimed that Deputy President William Ruto could have settled for Mathira MP Rigathi Gacagua as his 2022 running mate.

“The deputy president seems to have settled for Rigathi Gachagua as his 2022 running mate,” he said.

Both Raila and Ruto have compelling reasons for picking their running mates from Mt Kenya, which, for the first time since the return of multipartism in 1992, has no strong presidential contender.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and the Service Party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri had offered themselves to be William Ruto’s running mate but the two have since fallen out with the 2022 presidential hopeful.

With William Ruto’s running mate narrowing down to Mt Kenya region, Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata and his Meru counterpart Mithika Linturi, MP Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki are all scrambling for the running mate position.

Among William Ruto’s key supporters from the region, Rigathi Gachagua stands out as the perfect number two for the deputy president.

Apart from the financial masses that Gachagua has, the vocal legislator is believed to command a huge following in the Mt Kenya region.
