by Enock Ndayala

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was on Tuesday, August 29, acquitted in a case where he was charged with shooting Felix Orinda aka DJ Evolve in 2020.

This was after the magistrate ruled that the prosecution did not adduce sufficient evidence to convict the youthful legislator.

“The prosecution failed to record even a statement of the victim, the ballistic evidence produced in court was scanty and the same could not be relied upon to find the MP guilty,” said Ochoi.

Addressing the press at the Milimani Law Courts, the ODM legislator welcomed the court ruling saying the ‘judgment went the way God wanted.’

“This judgment has gone the way the almighty God wanted it to go. That is how God wanted it to go. The day I will be victorious is the day I will see DJ Evolve walk and stand by my side,” he said.

The outspoken MP however said real victory will come the day he will see the disk jockey will regain his ability to walk again.

He said he would even go to the extent of seeking medical specialists in India in a bid to ascertain DJ Evolve’s recovery, three years after he was shot in a Nairobi club.

“I want to assure DJ Evolve and members of the public that I will walk by DJ Evolve’s side and will be there for him, in fact am planning to take him to India for further checkup and am praying to God to grant Felix both the physical and spiritual strength to ensure he walks in the near future,” he said.

It is reported that up to date, the Embakasi East MP has spent to the tune of KSh 58.6 million towards the treatment of DJ Evolve who was injured in a shooting at a Nairobi club on April 17, 2020.
