CS nominee Eliud Owalo breaks his KSh 645 million networth

Former Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s chief campaign manager Eliud Owalo says his net worth is at KSh 645 million.

Appearing before the National Assembly vetting committee, Owalo who was nominated for Information, Communication, and Digital Economy said his income was from residential houses, land, and cars.

Owalo, who is a former ally of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga said he owns several properties in Nairobi and upcountry.

He further pointed out that he also owns a hotel worth K Sh80 million, and a commercial tree-planting business worth KSh160 million.

“My net worth is KSh 645 million. My Nairobi house has got a value of KSh 120 million, my residential house upcountry is worth KSh 70 million. I own land upcountry, worth KSh 200 million, four cars worth about KSh 15 million,”

“I have ventured heavily into commercial tree planting and as of now, I estimate the value proposition is KSh160 million. This comes to a sum total of KSh 645 million,” Owalo said.

In what appeared that he will soon be listed among the billionaires, Owalo, was the second person to appear for vetting after Agriculture CS Nominee Mithika Linturi said his hotel will be valued at nearly KSh 300 billion once complete.

“A hotel facility not fully complete but is KSh 80 million as of now, though based on the bill of quantities upon completion, it is worth Sh293 million,” Owalo said.

If approved, the former Director/Council Member of the Kenya School of Government (KSG) will take over from Joe Mucheru, who has been holding the ICT docket for the last seven years.

He formally announced interest to work with President William Ruto in 2020 three years after he quit Raila’s ODM party shortly after the 2017 General Election.
