Kalonzo keeps Raila waiting with delays in One Kenya Alliance

by Amos Khaemba

Kalonzo Musyoka and his One Kenya Alliance colleagues have postponed the signing of a coalition agreement that had been scheduled for today, Monday, February 28.

The move to suspend the event technically puts their imminent move to join Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja on hold.

According to a statement by OKA spokesperson Fedrick Okango on Sunday, February 27, the alliance is in the process of courting new interested parties that intend to join OKA.

“Our ideals continue to attract political formations which share the vision of a united nation anchored on the rule of law and equitable development. As a result, we continue to receive interests from the political formation that have expressed interests in joining us, ” Okango said.

“As a result, we have rescheduled the official unveiling of the OKA coalition as well as the signing of the coalition agreement that was scheduled for tomorrow to a later date this week to allow the accommodation of our new parties,” Okango added.

The suspension came hours after OKA leaders met, Gatundu MP Moses Kuria who expressed his willingness to join the outfit so long as they do not join Azimio la Umoja.

During the Jubilee National Delegates Convention, the OKA team had revealed that they will be unveiling their preferred presidential candidate who will then square it out with the ODM leader for the Azimio ticket.

President Uhuru Kenyatta had also intimated that both OKA and Azimio la Umoja will identify a presidential candidate within two weeks after a series of campaigns across the country.

Already the Raila Odinga Presidential Campaign Secretariat has released a packed schedule of the Azimio la Umoja campaign program.

Without a doubt, Kalonzo’s team has effectively thrown the yet-to-be-formed Azimio-One Kenya Alliance into confusion.
