Kalonzo Musyoka asks his allies to stop giving Raila demands

by Enock Ndayala

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has asked his troops to cease giving Azimio la Umoja presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga demands.

This was after Kalonzo Musyoka’s allies said they will suspend all Azimio campaigns until the issue of ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential running mate is conclusively ‘made in their favor.’

Apart from pulling out their representative from the Azimio panel tasked with searching for Raila’s number two, Kalonzo’s foot soldiers further asked the former Foreign Affair minister not to undergo a vetting process.

However, speaking in Masinga, Machakos County, on Tuesday, May 3, during the funeral of Wiper Masinga parliamentary hopeful David Mutuku’s father, Mzee Michael Nduto, the former vice president told his allies to leave the whole process to God.

Kalonzo said giving Raila demands will show that Kalonzo is not only unqualified but will also create an impression that Wiper lacks confidence.

“Stop the debate on what Kalonzo will become. Leave that to God and be confident. There is a way you can make noise until it creates the impression that we lack confidence,” Musyoka said.

The allies led by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua had listed Kalonzo Musyoka’s numbers, experience, international network, and working chemistry with former Premier Raila Odinga as some of the strengths that make the Wiper leader stand out among other contenders.

“If they’re looking for numbers, Kalonzo [has them], if they want someone respected in the international circles, Kalonzo is the one, if they are looking for regional balance, then Western and Eastern perfectly fit that. What else are they looking for?” Senator Wambua posed.

This comes at a time when the seven-member panel that was constituted by President Uhuru Kenyatta to help search for Raila’s best running mate is today officially set to begin interviewing those who had applied to deputize Raila.
