Miguna advices William Ruto to pick Rigathi Gachagua as presidential running mate

by Enock Ndayala

Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has warned Deputy President William Ruto against picking Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru as his presidential running mate.

This was after the governor overtook Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as the most preferred running mate for William Ruto from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.

But in a Tweet seen by Kivumbi.co.ke on Thursday, February 17, the controversial lawyer argued that picking Anne Waiguru to be William Ruto’s number two would see him lose terribly to ODM leader Raila Odinga, who is his most formidable competitor.

Unlike Waiguru, the Canada-based lawyer said Gachagua connects with Mt Kenya voters more than any other character in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party heavily linked to William Ruto.

“If William Ruto chose Anne Waiguru as his running mate based on fake opinion polls which are sponsored by Azimio La Utapeli, he will lose the election,

“Rigathi Gachagua connects with Mount Kenya voters more than any other character in UDA. That’s the unvarnished truth,” he said.

Miguna argued that the recent survey by Trends for Insights Africa that ranked Waiguru as William Ruto’s preferred running mate was sponsored by the Azimio la Umoja.

According to the latest survey released by Tifa Research firm on Thursday, February 17, Waiguru’s popularity in the Mt Kenya region stands at 31 percent with Gachagua trailing by nearly half, at 14 percent.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro emerged as the third most popular and best-perceived candidate to deputies Ruto in the August 9 General Election, with 11 percent with Narc leader Martha Karua closing the list with 10 percent.
