Outspoken lawyer Miguna Miguna has sensationally claimed President Uhuru Kenyatta is secretly working to ensure his deputy William Ruto wins the August 9 presidential election.
Taking to social media Miguna questioned the recent actions of the president terming them a clear way of aiding DP Ruto in his presidential bid.
“It is crystal clear that the engineer of the Azimio la Utapeli an Ujinga (Azimio la Umoja), the BBI fraud (sic), and the Political Parties Amendnemnet Bill is Uhuru Kenyatta.,” Miguna Twitted.
“All the three were manufactured to take Deputy President William Ruto to State House,” he added.
The lawyer who is a fierce critic of ODM leader Raila Odinga pointed out the proponents of the Political Parties Amendment Bill rushed it to parliament only to realize later that its content will benefit Ruto more than them.
At the same time, the barrister said that President Kenyatta will not decide the next president instead it’s ordinary Kenyans who will make independent decisions come August 9.
“Uhuru Kenyatta, just like (late president Daniel) Moi before him, has zero power to decide who becomes the president of Kenya. That power is with Kenyan voters,” Miguna wrote on Twitter.
Miguna pointed out that President Kenyatta fronting ODM leader Raila Odinga in the race to State House will work against him, as Kenyans will not vote for a ‘project’.
Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) constitutional amendment Bill that was initiated by President Kenyatta and Raila Odinga aimed at creating some positions in what pundits say could have positively helped Raila’s presidential bid.
Had the BBI succeeded it could have given Raila a chance to negotiate with regional heavyweights over a number of positions.
According to Miguna, BBI was designed to fail so that ODM leader Raila Odinga doesn’t get political mileage from it.
