Mutahi Ngunyi dumps Raila for William Ruto, gives reasons

by Enock Ndayala

Renowned political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has dumped the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition for President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza.

In a statement on Monday, August 7, the controversial political commentator regretted that he had misjudged President William Ruto using a dynasty lens.

Ngunyi, who has been an ardent supporter of the Raila Odinga-led Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party, revealed that his defection to the government side was a result of a change of mind.

He further disclosed that he was the brain behind the Hustlernation tag and that he must go and complete what he started.

“PUBLIC NOTICE: I have DEFECTED to William Ruto. I misjudged him using the Dynasty LENS. But if the FACTS change, you must change your MIND. And only a FOOL does not change his MIND. I started Project #HustlerNation. Now I MUST complete it,” Ngunyi said in a Tweet.

Ngunyi who previously worked as retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political advisor has been a fierce critic of President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.

However, Kivumbi.co.ke understands that the political analyst had recently toned down his criticism and has been supporting the Head of State.

Before crossing over to President Ruto’s camps, Ngunyi showered Ruto’s style of leadership with praises which he said were relational and not transactional.

“Ruto  ‘grass-rooting’ politics in my Mukurweini village. The difference between a HUSTLER president and a DYNASTY president is simple: A dynasty president is TRANSACTIONAL. A Ruto Presidency is RELATIONAL,” he said.
