Raila Odinga officially endorsed as the Azimio presidential candidate

The ODM leader Raila Odinga has officially been endorsed as the Azimio One Kenya coalition presidential candidate in the forthcoming August General Election.

On Saturday, March 12, at KICC the Azimio National Delegates Convention resolved to endorse the ODM leader as their presidential candidate

While accepting the nomination, the former prime minister promised to fight corruption if elected the president during the August polls.

“I pledge to lead a war against corruption. We will make Kenya apply 3 don’ts in corruption. Don’t want, don’t do, and don’t dare.” Raila said.

The ODM leader further pledged to ensure the country remains united under his administration.

“Under my watch, Kenyans will regard each other as brothers, sisters, and friends, not rivals and competitors. I need your support, I need your help. I will not fail you.” ~ Raila added.

In his speech, Raila commended President Uhuru, saying his administration has improved the infrastructural network in the country.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta has revolutionized infrastructure in Kenya. I pledge to use that platform to revolutionize industrialization,” Raila stated.

While congratulating Raila, President Uhuru Kenyatta was optimistic that the Azimio coalition will form the next government.

“I have no doubt that he has the ability and God will help him in ensuring our country develops and moves forward in unity and fighting corruption,” Uhuru said.

“We will hear of Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon, Ngilu, and other leaders. We will hear a representation of all who are here because that is the only way to succeed,” the head of state added.

Raila is now set to face Deputy President William Ruto who is expected to fly the Kenya Kwanza flag in the August election.
