Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has today endorsed the ODM leader Raila Odinga for the presidency, contrary to his earlier statement that he won’t support Raila.
The Wiper leader joined other Azimio delegates at KICC where they ratified the ODM leader to be the candidate for the Azimio coalition.
Speaking at the Azimio NDC, President Uhuru commended Kalonzo for putting the interest of Kenyans ahead of his ambitions.
“Ndungu yangu Kalonzo Musyoka ana uwezo wa kuwa rais,lakini ameweka tamaa yake nyuma ili kuunganisha Kenya,” ( My brother Kalonzo Musyoka has the capability to be the president, but he has but aside his personal ambition for the sake of uniting Kenya) President Uhuru said.
Before agreeing to support Raila, Kalonzo had challenged the ODM leader to honor their secretive NASA deal, where the ODM leader had promised to support Kalonzo irrespective of the 2017 election outcome.
“My brother has the option of abiding by the terms of this live binding, legal agreement, and thereby emerging as a true, national, regional, and indeed continental democratic hero or he chooses to act defiance and repudiation of the agreement,” Kalonzo said on the 2017 NASA deal.
The former vice-president had on several occasions ruled supporting Raila, even at one time saying he will be the most stupid person if he did so.
In an Exclusive interview with NTV last year the former Vice President vowed he can never contest as Raila Odinga’s running mate again saying he will be the most stupid person to do that.
“I am not a weakling… Raila and I have never sat to discuss 2022. I will be the most stupid person on earth to support Raila Odinga for president for the third time without a measure of reciprocity,” Kalonzo Musyoka said.
