William Ruto pleads with Musalia, Wetangula for the second time

by Enock Ndayala

Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto has for the second time pleaded with ANC leader Musalia Mudavad and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula to back his presidential bid.

Speaking in Ndalu, Tongaren constituency on Tuesday, January 4, the deputy president asked the duo to support his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who is expected to retire in August.

“I am asking Musalia and Wetang’ula to work with the Hustler Nation. This is the only way we can defeat Azimio La Umoja,” William Ruto said.

The presidential hopeful who was in Western and Rift Valley counties to popularise his Bottom-Up economic model further warned that there was an elaborate plan by Kieleweke legislators to make former Prime Minister Raila Odinga an imperial president.

“Let a few wealthy individuals not impose an imperial President on you, he says that the first thing he (Raila Odinga) will do if he is elected will be to change the Constitution, you must oppose it by electing a hustler who will offer employment to youths and change the country’s economy,” Ruto said.

This is the second time the former Eldoret North MP is trying his best to have the two One Kenya Alliance co-principals form a formidable team that will face off with his main challenger Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Friday, December 31, at the Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega County during a football tournament organized by area senator Cleophas Malala, Ruto said unlike other leaders allied to Raila’s Azimio la Umoja, the One Kenya Alliance co-principals are not political brokers.

“Mudavadi and Wetang’ula are the only legitimate leaders of the Mulembe nation and as a community, you should support them. Tell them they should join the ‘hustler’ nation so that we can form the next government together,” William Ruto said.
