Raila Odinga’s hand in the formation of DAP-K emerge after Sakaja’s claims

The Azimio la Umoja led by Raila is experiencing trouble as affiliate parties try to control local politics ahead of the August elections.

Raila Odinga’s hidden hand in the formation of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) emerged during the homecoming party of Trans Nzoia gubernatorial aspirant George Natembeya.

The ODM leader send a strong delegation to grace Natembeya’s event that was organized by DAP-K leadership, the party which has swallowed politicians from ANC and Ford Kenya parties.

The former prime minister sent his deputy party leader Governor Hassan Joho together with his right-hand man Junet Mohamed together with Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui to represent him at the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho rallied Trans Nzoia residents to support the candidature of Raila Odinga in the forthcoming presidential elections.

“Are we in agreement that when I get to Nairobi I should tell BABA (Raila Odinga) that Trans Nzoia is in Azimio?” Joho posed to the cheering crowd.

Defense Cabinet Secretary who is associated with DAP-K together with party officials led by Wafula Wamunyinyi thanked Raila for sending a strong delegation both saying they will stand with him in the August 9 elections.

In an interview with the Star Newspaper on Friday, January 28, Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja had alleged that the ODM leader bankrolled Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi and his faction to cause discord in Mudavadi’s party.

Sakaja had labeled the DAP-K party as an ODM in blue jacket, he further alleged that Wamunyinyi was paid by Raila to cause trouble in Ford Kenya while he was still a member.

“DAP-K is just an ODM in a blue jacket. It is being bankrolled by them and that’s where the conmanship is. If you look at the chairman, Wafula Wamunyinyi, he was of course being paid by Raila to create problems in Ford Kenya,” Sakaja said.

The presence of key allies of the ODM leader at a DAP-K event shows how Raila Odinga values the new party that is taking the Western region by storm.
