‘You’re nothing’ Raila’s elder brother tells off Miguna on liberating Nyanza region

by Enock Ndayala

Last week, outspoken lawyer Miguna Miguna swore to shape Nyanza Politics and liberate the region from what he termed “yorks of Odingaism.”

Miguna, who was speaking at an interview with NTV just hours after his grand return from exile, observed that the region had been destroyed in pursuit of an individual’s chase for power referring in a clear reference to former Premier Raila Odinga.

He said that for a long time, the Odinga’s have dominated the region’s political scene and that his mission is to liberate Luo Nyanza.

“Without any regard for personal, parochial interests…the only thing that matters to Raila is money and power…It is not just the intellectual values, the integrity aspect of it; the entire economic, social-cultural morals of Luo- Nyanza have been destroyed in pursuit of an individual’s chase for power,

“As a citizen of the Republic of Kenya, I have a duty and responsibility to correct the wrongs so that future generations can live in prosperity, peace, and tranquillity…  I am going to play a pivotal role in the liberation of the Luo nation and Kenya in general,” he said.

However, speaking on Sunday, October 23, during a church service in the Nyanza region, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party flag bearer Raila Odinga’s elder brother Oburu Odinga dismissed Miguna’s plans of liberating the region.

The Siaya senator opined that controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna did not have the required numerical backing to overthrow Raila as the Luo kingpin.

“That man (Miguna Miguna) came here to contest for the Nyando seat, he got only 20 votes. He went for the governor seat in Nairobi, he almost got nothing. Now the press is treating him as if he’s next to God. But Miguna Miguna you are nothing,” Oburu stated.
