Former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo has called out ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi for abandoning President Uhuru Kenyatta for his estranged Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking at a rally in Kitui on Thursday, January 27, the veteran politician said it was so bad for Mudavadi to insult the head of state who footed his family’s bills when they were in mourning.
“Mudavadi is insulting the same government that gave his mother a state burial. When the President was footing his family’s bills he was good, but now the President is bad because he has refused to endorse him,
“Uhuru took care of all expenses when Mudavadi’s mother died. It goes against respect to abuse the person who helped you in your time of need. When you abuse Uhuru and his family, you are being disrespectful,” Jirongo said.
The One Kenya Alliance co-principal further poked holes in the newly formed political alliance involving William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi, and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula.
Jirongo without mentioning names said Mudavadi and Ruto cannot lecture Kenyans on matters of corruption because the two politicians and another person of Asian origin were responsible for the Goldenberg scandal which was responsible for the country’s economic collapse.
“Uchumi wa nchi hii iliangushwa 1992 na wanasiasa wawili na Mhindi mmoja, (The economy of this country was overthrown in 1992 by two politicians and one Indian),
“You can’t sit with a fellow corrupt leader and lecture Kenyans on corruption. That is embarrassing,” Jirongo said.
Jirongo further blasted Mudavadi for disrespecting and disowning his biological mother, Hannah Mudavadi.
“Politics is making you disown your own birth mother, Mama Hannah, to an extent that you begin referring to Rosebella Jerono, your stepmother, as your biological mother. That is childish and shameful!” Jirongo remarked.
