According to the official results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Raila emerged second slightly behind now-President William Ruto.

Raila later unsuccessfully protested the results at the Supreme Court which led to anti-government protests.

As such, Njenga said he was the one who advised the former Prime Minister not to accept the outcome of the 2022 presidential election.

“After William Ruto was sworn into office, Baba called and asked me my take on the turnaround of events. I told him things didn’t go well,

“We had a meeting and I advised Raila to deny the election results and start demonstrations,” he said.

He was later made the Director of Operations for the nationwide protests which were suspended to give the National Dialogue Committee time to talk.

In his capacity as the director, Njega said he organized the demonstrations to an extent that the opposition leader could not penetrate the Nairobi Central Business District.

“I organized more than 1000 demonstrators at Kamkunji until Raila was unable to access Nairobi CBD,” he added.

He further said that due to his successful operations, the Kikuyu Council of Elders has since picked him as the Mt Kenya spokesman.

Njenga said he has already received the blessing of former President Uhuru Kenyatta who will next month officially hand over the button to lead the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.
