Kalonzo Musyoka re-unites with Raila Odinga

by Amos Khaemba

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has kept his followers waiting over the next political move following the decision to cut off links with Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga.

After failing to be named Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential running mate, Kalonzo revived his presidential ambitions by naming Andrew Sunkuli as his running mate.

Since then, there have been ongoing negotiations where he has placed several demands before rejoining the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party.

However, Kivumbi.co.ke has learned that the former vice president is expected to reunite with the former prime minister today, Thursday, June 2, 2022.

On Wednesday, June 1, Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party Secretary-General Junet Mohamed hinted that the two will hold a joint public rally at Mukuru Kwa Njenga grounds in Nairobi.

“Azimio la Umoja one Kenya coalition party will Adress the nation tomorrow at 2 pm from Mukuru Kwa Njenga.” Junet Mohamed said on Twitter.

While hinting at the same, Raila Odinga’s 2022 presidential spokesman Makua Mutua alluded that today’s rally will mark the end of William Ruto’s presidential bid.

“Tomorrow will be the end of UDA as we know it. The end” Makau Mutua, a close ally of the ODM leader said on Twitter.

Speaking on Wednesday, June 1, at the burial of former diplomat Joseph Katithi in Kyawango village in Mwala, Machakos county, the Wiper leader hinted at his next move by urging the Kamba community to bear with him and support his political move stating that it was in their best interest.

“I will give a political statement within two days. That’s why I am requesting the Kamba community to support my political move,” said Kalonzo.

The former vice president has also been under pressure from Wiper party aspirants who held a meeting and called on him to go back to Azimio.

As the Wiper leader decides to support Raila Odinga for the third time, there have been reports that he demanded to be allocated powerful ministries among them that of Transport on top of being named Chief Cabinet Secretary before committing his support to the ODM leader.
