Kisumu West MP Olago Aluoch has defected frrom Moses Wetangula’s party, FORD Kenya to newly formed outfit, Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-P,) associated with his fierce local political rival Eugene Wamalwa.

MP Aluoch and Trans Nzoia Senator Michael Mbito of the Jubilee party defected during the official opening of DAP-P offices in Nairobi.

During the event, FORD Kenya suffered a political blow as many other National Executive Committee members led by Lwande Oneko moved to DAP-K.

Lwande was the director in charge of internal affairs in FORD Kenya.

During the event, DAP-K party leader and MP for Kanduyi Wafula Wamunyinyi -who previously belonged to FORD-Kenya-assured aspirants of free and fair nominations in preparation for the August 2022 General election.

“DAP Kenya is the fastest-growing party and we want to assure you that we shall field candidates in all elective seats except president which we will leave for Raila Odinga,” said Wamunyinyi.

The DAP-K which is associated with Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa was launched recently after the failed attempt by Wamunyinyi and his Tongareni counterpart Eseli Simiyu to replace Moses Wetangula as FORD Kenya leader,

Speaking December 6, 2021, Wetangula accused Wamalwa of being behind the failed attempt by the Wamunyinyi group.

“They are running away with one Eugene Wamalwa who against the legal principles and constitutional constraints has registered a party that he is hawking around and they have settled on it as their new refuge,” Wetangula said.

On the other hand, Wamalwa has been accusing Wetangula of being a dictator which has made founding members of the party to quit.

Wetangula who is the Bungoma senator has dared the Eugene group to a political duel in Western Kenya in august 2022 so as to prove who controls Western Kenya politics.

“They have run away, but they cannot run away from their primary constituencies. We will meet them there,” Wetangula said when the Wamunyinyi group announced quitting FORD Kenya.
