Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has maintained that Deputy President William Ruto will not succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who will be retiring in August.

Speaking in Bungoma County during the DAP-K rally at Posta ground on Friday, February 4, the CS exuded confidence that the ODM leader Raila Odinga will beat Ruto hands down.

“Wewe ukiwa hapa umedanganywa an wenzetu wa wheelbarrow ati serikali itakua ya wheelbarrow aki ya mungu unadanganywa mchana, unaota ndoto ya mchana,

(If you are here being cheated that the next government will be formed by the Wheelbarrow party I swear to God you are being misled and you are dreaming in broad daylight)” Wamalwa said.

Wamalwa who is heavily linked with the newly formed DAP-K party in Bungoma to popularise the Azimio la Umoja further warned locals not to waste their votes on someone who will form the opposition after the polls.

“I want to tell the people of Bungoma and Western at large that the next government will be formed by Raila Odinga,” he said.

With barely 185 days to the August 9, General Election, the presidential contest appears to be shaping up to a two-horse race between William Ruto and Raila Odinga.

This is after the One Kenya Alliance which was reportedly termed as the third force appears to be folding as the clock ticks towards the polls.

Already, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula have teamed up with Deputy President William Ruto whereas Kanu supremo Gideon Moi and Wipers’ Kalonzo Musyoka are believed to be headed to Azimio la Umoja.

The remarks by Defence CS come barely a day after firebrand unionist Francis Atwoli asked Kenyans to prepare for a Raila presidency.

In an interview with KNT News, Atwoli said Ruto cannot break the history stating that all the four presidents who have served this country have first been in the opposition before clinching to power.

“Prepare for Raila as your 5th president,” Atwoli said while repeating it severally in his dramatic trademark style.
