Raila responds to claims he planned to push Uhuru out of office

President Uhuru has promised to traverse Mt Kenya to hunt for votes for the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

ODM leader Raila Odinga has watered downplayed Deputy President William Ruto’s claims that he was the one behind the scheme to overthrow President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While meeting Mt Kenya elders and elected leaders on Saturday, March 26, the Head of State revealed that his estranged deputy was scheming to impeach him.

But Ruto yesterday refuted the claims terming them as baseless and mere propaganda stating that it was the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who wanted to impeach the head of state when he swore himself in as the “Peoples president.”

“The person known for going against the Kenyan Constitution is known. He wanted to overthrow the government in 1982 and then recently swore himself in as the President to overthrow the Constitution. My friend, you must be confusing me with your project,” Ruto said.

However, speaking after a meeting with the Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) on Tuesday, March 29, the Azimio la Umoja presidential flag bearer said he had nothing to say about the matter because he was completely unaware.

“I am not aware of any impeachment attempts or claims on President,” Raila told Citizen TV. “I’ve got nothing to say,” he stated.

While addressing Gìkùyù elders who visited him at State House, Nairobi the first in command warned the huge voting bloc against supporting the UDA presidential flag bearer claiming that he had an insatiable appetite for power.

During the meeting, Uhuru said while his deputy projected a friendly face in the public, behind the scenes, Ruto was orchestrating how to cause a premature end of his presidency through an ouster.

While appearing on Citizen TV on Tuesday, March 29, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi alleged that the plot by Ruto and his allies to kick out the president commenced way back in 2013, just after the Jubilee government was formed.

The vocal legislator opined that there were talks in the corridors from some Ruto-allied MPs trying to test the waters and see if we (opposition MPs) would play along.
