“Childish”: Mudavadi responds to claims Ruto was bribed to support President Uhuru

On Wednesday, July 27, former Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju dismissed Deputy President William Ruto’s claims that he unconditionally supported President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2013 and 2017.

The Executive Director of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party Presidential Secretariat sensationally claimed that the 2022 presidential election front runner was heavily paid to throw his weight behind Uhuru.

Tuju said apart from receiving billions, the second in command demanded 50 percent in the cabinet and parastatals appointments for him to support Uhuru’s presidency.

But speaking on Thursday, July 28, during an interview with PAG Radio, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi dismissed Raphael Tuju’s claims that Ruto was paid to support the first in command.

The former vice president termed Tuju’s remarks as ‘childish’ stating that the former Jubilee spokesperson was only out to soil Ruto’s reputation because they were on different sides of the political divide.

“I have seen Tuju saying that Ruto was bought so that he could support Uhuru in 2013. First is that I forgive him for making such comments which I can only term as childish,” Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi further dismissed allegations that he was paid to support the UDA presidential flag bearer William Ruto in the 2022 presidential elections.

He stated that the political pacts he has formed since joining politics in 1989 were entirely based on corroborating ideologies.

The Kenya Kwanza Alliance co-principal stated that if Tuju claims that Ruto was paid to support President Uhuru’s presidential bid, then it suffices to say that the former Prime Minister was also bribed to shake hands with the Head of State.

“When I supported Raila 2017, does it mean that I was bought? What about when Raila became Uhuru’s project? Then it means that even he was bought,” Mudavadi responded.
