Kandara MP Alice Wahome offers to be William Ruto’s running mate

by Enock Ndayala

Kandara MP Alice Wahome has offered herself to be Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 elections.

Speaking at a funeral service in Murang’a on Monday, December 13, the two-term legislator said she has remained steadfast in selling Ruto in the huge voting bloc.

Wahome who recently threatened to sue President Uhuru Kenyatta for militarizing government institutions further said she is the only woman known to unwaveringly defend the deputy president from the huge risks of deep state intimidation.

Kandara MP Alice Wahome has offered herself to be Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 elections.

“I strongly feel that Murang’a has the ability to be William Ruto’s running mate and that candidate should be a woman who is known to steadfastly defend him (Ruto) against the huge risks of deep state intimidation,” Wahome told mourners.

She said it is high time presidential frontrunners William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga pick women as their running mates adding that the role women play in national politics cannot be belittled.

“The importance of women in political strategy to win the polls cannot be belittled,” she stated.

The sentiments by Wahome barely come days after the deputy president hinted at picking Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his potential running mate.

Speaking at a rally in Nyeri on Saturday, December 4, William Ruto heaped praise at Gachagua, wondering how he had mobilized such a big crowd.

The DP asked residents to allow the billionaire MP to accompany him in seeking national votes, a clear indication that he could be among William Ruto’s possible number two.

“I want to ask you for one favour, allow Kanda ya Wira (Rigathi Gachagua) Gachagua to accompany me to other parts of the country so that we can be able to win this seat. Free him so that he can engage in national politics,” William Ruto pursued residents.
