Kimilili MP vows to quit politics if Raila get 30% of Western votes

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has threatened to resign as MP if ODM leader Raila Odinga gets more than 30 percent of Luhya votes in this year’s General Election.

Speaking in Uasin Gishu during the burial ceremony of businessman Jackson Kibor on Friday, April 1, the lawmaker said he would ensure Deputy President William Ruto gets more than 70 percent of Luhya vote’s failure to which he would venture into farming.

“In Bungoma, where I come from, if the Azimio la Umoja coalition will get more than30 percent of the Luhya votes, I will get rid of politics even if I am elected a member of parliament. I will get rid of it and go to driving school and learn how to drive a tractor,” Barasa said.

Barasa, a fierce critic of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, accused the Azimio la Umoja team of coercing Kenyans to support them instead of persuading voters in a friendly manner.

Loosely translated to: “The thing I have come to realize in this world is that we should be humble. The Bible says if you humble yourself God will exalt you but if you humble yourself God will bring you down.”

Two of the Kenya Kwanza co-principals Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and Bungoma senator Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya) have vowed to rally the second-largest voting bloc to William Ruto.
