Azimio la Umoja presidential flag-bearer Raila Odinga’s campaign spokesperson Makau Mutua now says that the Ruto-Gachagua ticket cannot effectively co-exist should they form the next government.

While referring to both Deputy President William Ruto and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as ‘rats’, the political analyst opined that the duo is corrupt and as such, they will fight over what to steal while in office and eventually fallout.

In a statement on Friday, May 20, Mutua further termed the Kenya Kwanza presidential line-up as ‘a marriage made in hell’.

“Two rats can’t live in the same hole.  Rigathi Gachagua and William Ruto won’t and can’t co-exist for long.  They will cannibalize each other sooner than later.  It’s a marriage made in hell,” Mutua said in a Tweet.

On Sunday, May 15, the UDA presidential flag bearer William Ruto picked former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s personal assistance as his presidential running mate.

The Kenya Kwanza ticket is expected to square it out with ODM leader Raila Odinga-Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua of the Azimio la Umoja.

In an interview with BBC, political analyst Bobby Mkangi argued that the August 9, General Election is mostly about economic reforms and that corruption is no longer an issue.

“Both sides are tainted by corruption allegations and that is why none is pointing fingers. Corruption is no longer an issue. It seems to be our way of life and it has become hard to show a strong leader who is not tainted by corruption,” the analyst said.

Gachagua is facing charges of corruption and money-laundering worth KSh 7.3 billion the charges that he has since denied saying that he is being persecuted for supporting William Ruto who has bitterly fallen out with his boss.
