Nyeri governor blasted for publicly challenging Raila Odinga

by Nderi Caren

Former  Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando took a swipe at Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga for challenging Raila Odinga during his tour of the region to popularise his 2022 presidential ambition.

According to Kabando, Mutahi was wrong in telling Raila Odinga that the Mt Kenya region does not want the deputy presidential post.

Kabando further blasted the governor for challenging Raila Odinga to state exactly what Mt Kenya region will get in his cabinet instead of retelling history at rallies.

“Nyeri Govenor Mutahi Kahiga didn’t speak for Nyeri when he told Raila Odinga that the post of Deputy President and history are not important,

“That we want assurance how many cabinet posts Raila will give. Ironically, we have so many Kikuyus in (President) Uhuru’s govt yet locals are suffering,” Kabando wrote in a tweet.

Kabando further told the Nyeri Governor that Mt Kenya has not rejected the Deputy President post from Raila Odinga.

“We also don’t mind DP post! Instead of spewing irrelevances for the gallery, Kahiga should have just kept off Raila’s meeting,” he said.

He further accused Kahiga of misrepresenting the Mt Kenya people and spoiling Raila Odinga’s chances to win the electorates.

“Governor Mutahi Kahiga shouldn’t go to spoil Raila’s meeting if he doesn’t agree on it. Don’t misrepresent our collective priority agenda,

“We value our history, our heritage.  People who don’t value their history are like a tree without roots, it’ll fall. Let Raila campaign,” he concluded.

During Raila Odinga’s tour of Nyeri on Friday, November 26, the governor told him to stop focusing on the history and the notion that Mt Kenya region is demanding for the Deputy President post.

He said that all they want is to know what will be in store for them in Raila’s government should he become president in 2022.

“Don’t tell us about Deputy Presidency, that is a small issue, we have even seen those who have been given, what have they done with it,” he added.
