“That time has not come” Raila rules out retiring from active politics

For instance, Kenya’s President William Ruto vowed to send Raila Odinga back to his rural home in Bondo, Siaya County, which clearly meant pushing him into retirement.

“The only job I have left is to send Raila Odinga back to Bondo. He will go back there without even knowing it,” Ruto said while speaking in Nyeri.

However, the former Prime Minister on Sunday, September 24, told off those calling for his retirement to “shut up”.

Speaking at the home of his sister-in-law Tabu Osewe in Bondo constituency, on Sunday, September 24, the veteran politician maintained that nobody should decide for him when to quit politics.

Raila assured his supporters that he was still in the game and that the time for his retirement “has not come”.

“The day I decide to go back to Bondo, I will not seek permission from anyone. I will fund my way there. Certainly, that time has not come; I am still here. so let them shut up,” Raila said.

The ODM leader further he knows the way to his home better than anybody else and that he will retire at the right time.

“Some people have been saying that they will take me back to Bondo. I want to tell you I know the way to Bondo better than them. That is my home and I know it better than anybody else,” he added.

Raila assured his supporters that even though the journey has been long and tedious, there is hope at the end of the tunnel, and they will very soon achieve their ultimate goal.
