Deputy President William Ruto has rewarded nominated senator Isaac Mwaura with other roles after he conceded defeat at UDA nominations.

Ruto in a statement on Monday, April 25, announced that he had appointed Mwaura to his national campaign team.

The deputy president announced that Mwaura will be the Keya Kwanza team leader in Kiambu County. He will also be the team’s liaison with people living with disabilities.

“Welcome Isaac Mwaura Isaac to the Kenya Kwanza national campaign. Your magnanimity to accept the outcome of our just concluded party nominations in Ruiru Constituency adds to your leadership credentials,

“I wish you well in your new role as a team leader in Kiambu County and also in the community of people living with disabilities,” William Ruto said in a Tweet.

Mwaura thanked the Kenya Kwanza presidential flag bearer for the appointment and assured him of his support to ensure he wins the August, 9 General Election.

“Thanks a lot, William Samoei Ruto the Deputy President of Kenya and GOD willing the 5th President of our country for the new role that you have given me to be in the Presidential Secretariat as Team Leader of Kiambu County and National Disability Affairs Coordinator,” Mwaura said.

The development comes after Mwaura failed to clinch the UDA parliamentary ticket in the recently held party nominations in Ruiru constituency.

Mwaura who got 2,428 lost the ticket to incumbent Simon King’ara who got 4,688 votes.

While conceding defeat, the lawmaker noted that although he was disappointed by the loss, the time had come for him to move on and focus on the August 9 General Election.

“Joining hands with my competitor Simon Ng’ang’a today at Kist county tallying center after he was declared winner of the Ruiru parliamentary seat that I hotly contested for. It’s now time to heal the deep wounds out of the party primaries and thus move forward towards the August General Election,” Mwaura said.
