Police are investigating an incident in which Public Service, Affirmative Action, and Gender CS Aisha Jumwa’s daughters lost KSh 1.1 million to thugs.

Last month, the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition flag bearer Raila Odinga recalled how he reformed outspoken Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.

The 2022 presidential front runner Raila Odinga said he picked the Malindi gubernatorial candidate when she was ‘nothing’ and reformed her to who she is now.

While Jumwa could not immediately respond to Raila’s claims, the UDA party diehard on Friday, June 10, spoke about her tough upbringing and being married off at a tender age, making life very difficult.

Speaking at the Kenya Kwanza Women’s Charter on Friday, June 10, at the Nyayo Stadium, Jumwa stated that her father had six wives and 28 daughters.

“As you can see, at that time we were 28 girls and my father had 6 wives,” Aisha Jumwa revealed.

She narrated how her father chose the most unpopular way of getting them from his house due to the fact that he could not cater to the needs of his large family which include paying the school fees.

“I was sold at a throwaway price when my father was unable to educate us. I am the only one in our family who saw the light. I was appointed to the position of a counselor in 1997 earning KSh 7,000 per month,” she stated.

The Malindi MP further urged the 2022 presidential front runner William Ruto to pledge full funding and support against early marriages.

“You have given a lot of hope to many like myself in the villages. That you will enable the girl child who has been abused and failed to continue with their education. You have touched my heart on behalf of many girls who are victims of early marriages,” Jumwa said.
