Just like it was during the burial of DP Rigathi Gachagua’s brother James Gachagua in May this year, there were dramatic scenes after a woman interrupted President William Ruto’s speech.

The middle-aged woman who was dressed in a full yellow dress made a bold move after she emerged from the crowd and walked toward the president as he made his speech.

The unidentified lady then collapsed on the ground in front of the president shouting for help in an apparent address to the Head of State and Kenya’s First Lady Rachael Ruto.

“Help me…Help me…you are our first lady, please help me!” the woman shouted.

This provoked security guards who rushed to the woman’s aid and escort her outside the funeral service even as the President contained the situation.

“Huyo mama tutamshughulikia asikuwe na wasi wasi. Asanteni sana! (Sit down, I will attend to you at a later time)

“It’s okay, Mama Rachel is there to assist you,” Ruto stated as the lady was taken away.

“We will sort her, don’t you worry,” President Ruto said as he proceeded with his speech

On President William Ruto’s first Nyeri tour as President, the Head of State thanked the people of Nyeri and the larger vote-rich Mt Kenya region for their overwhelming support during the August 9, elections.

Reriani died 10 days ago after a short illness aged 71.

In his speech, the deputy president reminisced how he spent quality time with his brother during the inauguration ceremony last month.

“We parted ways happily and agreed that I would come home after we settle to discuss family matters… little did I know that those beautiful moments we shared would be our last,” Gachagua said.
