Ford Kenya party led by Moses Wetang’ula has resolved to throw their weight behind Deputy President William Ruto in the August 9, General Election.

Wetang’ula on Tuesday, January 25, presided over a parliamentary group meeting at the party headquarters where he rallied his troops behind DP Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA)party.

According to the party secretary-general Chris Wamalwa, one of the resolutions of the meeting touched on the August 9 General Election.

The meeting also deliberated on whether the party will field a presidential candidate or not.

Addressing the press after the meeting the Kiminini MP hinted that Wetangula had shelved his presidential ambition and would now partner with Ruto’s UDA party and other like-minded politicians.

“Today we had a meeting of Ford Kenya parliamentary group. We have endorsed resolutions made that Ford Kenya is going to be in partnership with ANC, UDA, and other like-minded parties. This is a partnership that will go to the State House,” Wamalwa said.

The meeting of Ford Kenya comes a few days after Mudavadi announced a new partnership with Ruto a move that led to the collapse of One Kenya Alliance.

As Wetang’ula shelves his presidential bid, there are speculations that his ANC counterpart Musalia Mudavadi will follow suit and support DP Ruto.

What remains to be seen is what the two Western leaders will get in return bearing in mind, the second in command has his eyes set on having his running mate from Mt. Kenya.

In an interview with KTN NEWS recently nominated senator Isaac Mwaura was categorical that William Ruto’s running mate will come from the mountain.

“We in Mt. Kenya are very categorical that the deputy president position is from our region. Our competitors would want to think that Mudavadi is going to be Ruto’s running mate, not at all,” Mwaura said.
