Ford-Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula has turned down Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s offer to join Azimio la Umoja coalition, headed by ODM leader Rraila Odinga.

Speaking on Wednesday, March 23, the Bungoma Senator said Kalonzo’s calls for him to ditch Deputy President William Ruto for ODM leader Raila Odinga is too late.

Wetang’ula further insisted that he is contented with his newly-found allies including ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi hence cannot heed Kalonzo’s request.

“I can’t go back. He is my friend and I don’t want to engage him but I am happy where I am and we are going to win this election the signs are everywhere but we are also incomplete without Kalonzo,

“It’s mutual because nobody can deny that he is my best friend in Kenya and I am his (Kalonzo’s) best political friend,” Wetang’ula said.

Wetang’ula, who was speaking to NTV, said the move by the former vice president to back Raila Odinga’s presidential bid was forced, arguing that the Wiper boss seems unhappy in Raila’s camp.

His remarks come after the Wiper leader on Wednesday, March 23, said that he would hold talks with the Ford Kenya party leader to convince him to join zAzimio la Umoja whose presidential flag bearer is Raila Odinga.

“Weta ni rafiki yangu na ndugu yangu, ningefurahi sana akijiunga nami. We talk with him but we have not formally engaged but if we do, it will be a good thing. Now that you have given me the thought, I think I will pursue him,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo and Wetangula started working together prior to the 2013 General Election under the then Coalition for Reform and Democracy (Cord).

They again worked together in the last General Election under the National Super Alliance (Nasa) which brought together Raila’s ODM, Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC, and former Bomet Governo Isaac Ruto’s Chama Cha Mashinani.
