President Ruto offers to pay dowry for MP to settle down

by Enock Ndayala

Kenya’s President William Ruto last week commenced his five-day tour of the vote-rich Western region.

While in Bungoma County on Sunday, August 27, the Head of State accused Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salsaya of being a nuisance.

Ruto linked the MP’s nuisance to his association with Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition as well as his lack of a spouse.

As such, the president asked locals to help their son get a wife adding that he was ready to help the DAP-K lawmaker pay his wife’s bride price.

“Your MP has no wife, and he really disturbs people. I am actually ready to pay the bride price for him. Please get him a wife from this place and hurry up. Will you guys help him so that he can stop disturbing people,” Ruto said.

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that in October 2022, Peter Salasya disclosed that he was looking for a woman to settle down with.

The legislator said he was not in a hurry in this mission, and stated that he was looking for a God-fearing woman and one who would support him in his political venture.

“I am just looking for a very prayerful woman, a very young girl, focused girl, supportive girl, presentable and must be able to speak to the people in the countryside. Are you willing to join me we go look for votes,” Salasya said.

After his declaration, a lady took to the streets of Nairobi to confess her love and deep affection for the youthful legislator.

The woman identified as Lydia Ronald was seen holding a placard with the MP’s photo written ‘MP Peter Salasya Marry Me Please Mheshimiwa’.

In a viral video, Lydia asked for a hand in marriage saying that she has all the qualities the lawmaker was looking for in a wife.

She described herself as a God-fearing, hardworking, and humble woman who would make a perfect wife for the MP.

However, Salasya did not give in despite meeting Lydia for lunch at the Parliament precincts.
