Wetang’ula tells Kalonzo that Raila will use and dump him again

by Enock Ndayala

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula has warned Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka against joining former prime minister Raila Odinga saying he will use and dump him again.

The Ford Kenya party leader urged Kalonzo to make a wise decision not to fall prey to political dishonesty again ahead of the forthcoming General Election saying that the ODM leader has a history of political betrayal.

“My dear brother and friend Kalonzo don’t allow political turncoats to shape your destiny. With the history of betrayal and deceit, plus the arrogance being displayed, think carefully before you enter the tent,” Wetang’ula said in a Tweet on Thursday, March 10.

Wetangula’s appeal came on the day the former vice president and KANU leader Gideon Moi held discussions with the leader of the New Democrats Party Jimmy Kibaki at the One Kenya Alliance offices.

While the details of the meeting remained scanty, sources claim that the trio was deliberating on the advantages and disadvantages of joining Raila’s Azimio la Umoja.

Kalonzo has, however, made it clear that he will only join Azimio if Raila will honor their 2017 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in which he was to support Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid in the August 9, 2022 polls notwithstanding the 2017 presidential outcome.

But last week, the recently appointed Raila Odinga’s Presidential Campaign Secretariat and spokesperson Makau Mutua dismissed the existence of the deal between the former Nasa co-principals.

The United States-based lawyer noted that should the deal exist as claimed by Kalonzo, then it would have died after the collapse of the Nasa coalition which occurred in 2020.

“The deal is of no use in the current political dispensation for us to litigate discussion that took place in 2017,

“What both Kalonzo and Raila need to do is to come to the table and negotiate in the context of Azimio and for Kalonzo to find a place for himself within the broad umbrella that we are building,” Mutua said.
