UDA nomination official refuse to release results unless paid

There was drama in Kakamega after United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination officials refused to announce results unless paid.

There was drama in Kakamega County when United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nomination officials refused to announce results unless pay are paid their dues.

On Friday, April 15, presiding officers, and clerks at the Kakamega tally center refused to give sub-county results until they are paid.

In a video seen by Kivumbi.co.ke, ballot boxes full of election materials are seen in a room as the officials shouted, ‘No pay, no results’.

According to the official Deputy President William Ruto’s party had promised to pay the officials today morning but by the time of the standoff, the official had not received their payment.

Some regions within Kakamega County are part of the area UDA party had to postpone nominations after the excise was disrupted by supporters.

UDA nominations without a doubt faced a lot of logistical changes, at some point UDA election officials were forced to move the exercise to a nearby market after the principal of a school assigned as a polling center failed to show up.

It is quite strange that the party could not pay the officials when it was projected that the party would spend more than Ksh 500 million on the nomination in a deliberate plan to ensure a free and fair exercise.

In its elaborate plan, the DPs party had planned to hire 100,000 polling station clerks, 128 constituency presiding officers, and 47 returning officers to manage the exercise that took place on April 14.

Hypothetically if the party pays each clerk Ksh 2,000 for the day-long exercise like in the past, then the party will spend Ksh 200 million on clerks alone.
