Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has come under more criticism after a video of him struggling to simply explain when he graduated from the university emerged.

Malala who was speaking to Nyota TV said he is a graduate of the United State International University (USIU) which is an international institution.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) gubernatorial hopeful for Kakamega in this year’s General Election strangely appeared not to recall when he joined the institution.

“Nilimaliza hiyo degree 2019… nilijoin kati ya 2006 na 2007 nikalaliza nikagraduate 2011 lakini degree yangu nilichukua 2019,”

“I graduated after joining between 2006 and 2007 and completed and graduated in 2011. But I picked my degree in 2019,” the Information System and Technology graduates said.

Senator Malala said that all he could remember was that his graduation ceremony was attended by the entire family, friends, and neighbors and that it was at that time that he declared his intentions to venture into the murky field of politics.

“I actually cannot remember when I graduated but what I remember is that it was attended by all my clan members. In fact, during my graduation party is when I declared to vie for the MCA seat in 2013,” Malala said.

According to Malala, he graduated in 2011 but his Degree was printed in 2019, something that has left his critics scratching their heads on how he was cleared to vie for the Senate in 2017 without a Degree.

This comes at a time when Malala has been the subject of discussion as to whether he graduated from the USIU or not.

On Friday, May 27, the senator Malala shared his academic testimonials to dispel rumors that he failed the exam.

“Those who cherish propaganda, feel ashamed. Attached are the true copies of my academic accolades,” Malala said.
