Bullfighter Boni Khalwale is ‘accompanied’ by his bull to seek IEBC clearance

by Enock Ndayala

Former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale on Monday, May 30, appeared before the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for clearance ahead of the August 9, General Election.

Unlike other aspirants who were accompanied by their supporters across the country in the ongoing clearance exercise, Khalwale was accompanied by his bull.

The former Ikolomani Member of Parliament who is known for riding his passion for bullfighting to rally political support was accompanied by his bull called the “Beast.”

“My home was a beehive of humanity late into the evening after I was cleared for the August 9, General Election. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made it a tremendous success,” Khalwale said in a Facebook post.

The former Assistant Minister for East Africa Community is eying to recapture the Kakamega senatorial seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

As the political climate continues to heat up, aspirants continue to amaze members of the public with creative ways of winning their trust.

It is understood that it was not Khalwale alone who appeared before the commission for clearance with an animal.

Nyamira senatorial candidate Adams Nyaribo Mochenwa caused a stir on the streets after moving around on the back of a donkey.

While other hopefuls drove the most expensive cars to IEBC for clearance, Nyaribo rode a donkey that had been covered with a white towel.

Nyaribo who was dressed in a white suit said his decision to use the animal was a show that he is ready to serve the people of Nyamira because they have suffered a lot.

“As you see in the Bible when Jesus was going to Jerusalem, the donkey represented four things; suffering, humility, peace, and service,” he explained.
