NYS key suspect Anne Ngirita eyes Nakuru top seat in August election

One of the main suspects in the multi-million National Youth Service (NYS) scandal Anne Ngirita on Tuesday, February 15 expressed interest in joining President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party after dumping UDA party.

Ngirita, the woman at the center of the KSh 400 million NYS scandal said she will be contesting for the Nakuru Woman representative seat.

She allegedly made KSh 60 million from NYS through her company Waluco Investments between November 2015 and June 2017 for supplying nothing.

if admitted to the Jubilee party, Ngirita who has an active case in court is expected to battle it out with incumbent Liza Chelule Chepkorir and Assumpta Muiruri in the August 9, General Election.

She becomes the third Kenya at the center of corruption allegations to declare interest injoining politics.

Former KETRACO Managing Director Fernandes Barasa who is at the center of KSh 600 million excess payments made to Lake Turkana Wind Power (LTWP) for a project in Marsabit County has expressed interest in succeeding Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

Fernandes who stepped down hours before being grilled over graft allegations is expected to run on an ODM ticket.

This comes barely days after another NYS suspect Lilian Omollo declared interest in the forthcoming General Election.

The former Youth Principal Secretary who was charged over the KSh 9 billion NYS corruption scandal declared interest in the Embu senatorial seat.

“I am vying for the seat of senator Embu County, a seat that I believe I am well equipped for,

“We all know what the work of the senator is, it is to protect and bring home funds. In my previous work, I dealt with public service work, a lot of financial management,” she said.
