Ruto allies respond to President Uhuru’s Sagana address

by Enock Ndayala

Allies of Deputy President William Ruto have sharply criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta for using the Sagana three meeting to insult his estranged deputy.

During the meeting, the president directly endorsed William Ruto’s bitter rival Raila Odinga as the best presidential candidate suited to succeed him.

The head of state further said that his deputy is headed to Jehanam for allegedly stealing money meant for the construction of dams.

He further accused a section of church leaders especially those from Mt Kenya of accepting millions of money donated to them by William Ruto saying they will go to hell lest they change their high affinity for corrupt money.

But, William Ruto’s foot soldiers led by Meru Senator Mithika Linturi took to social media to fire salvos at the first in command claiming he did not address the real issues affecting the vote-rich Mt Kenya region.

“If you are man enough you should have told us why our miraa farming deteriorated during your tenure just because of your family interests in Somalia, why you killed other milk industries just to monopolize your brookside industry and paying our farmers peanuts,” said Mithika Linturi.

On her part, nominated senator Millicent Omanga accused the Jubilee party leader of using the Sagana declaration to malign and attach his estranged deputy.

“So Sagana Declaration was a moment to malign, attack, and mudsling the deputy president?” she posed.

Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa called out the president for demeaning church leaders.

While calling on the head of state to respect church leaders, Ichungwah, an ardent supporter of William Ruto said it was the hypocrisy of the highest order for the president to insult the people who helped him get off the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“For heaven’s sake! Crying out loud, leave our clergy alone. You can insult us but respect our religious leaders. The same people you call liars were there to pray for you over ICC,” he said.
