Jubilee spokesperson accuse IEBC officials in Mt Kenya of campaigning for UDA candidates on Election Day

by Enock Ndayala

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has accused senior IEBC officials in the vote-rich Mt Kenya region of campaigning for UDA candidates inside the polling stations.

Speaking on Inooro TV on Wednesday, August 31, the former Ndaragua Member of Parliament said the electoral officials wore face masks and were directly convincing voters not to vote for the Azimio la Umoja candidates.

“We have secured intelligence reports that all senior IEBC officials wore face masks that aided them to campaign for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates inside the voting halls,” he said.

Other than IEBC officials, Kioni, a close ally of outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta further accused clerics of “being more poisonous than the politicians for cohesiveness in the country.”

He also claimed that contrary to the Constitution of Kenya where voting must strictly commence from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, the electoral officials in the vote-rich region opened polling centers dead in the night.

“Voting in many parts of Mt Kenya happened in the dead of night like the practice of witchcraft as opposed to the time from 6 am to 5 pm stipulated by the law,” he added.

Kioni, however, told the Mt Kenya region who were swayed by the doom agents of the electoral agency that they will regret the mistake of selling their political soul to a very informed choice.

“You (Mt Kenya residents) will gravely regret the mistake of selling your political soul to a very ill-informed choice,” he added.

William Ruto’s UDA party whitewashed the Jubilee party to scoop the majority of the seats in Mt Kenya, a region predominantly perceived to be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s bedrock.

Furthermore, the region voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s long-term political friend turned-enemy William Ruto’s presidential bid.
