On Tuesday, July 19, Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua faced off with Martha Karua in the presidential running mate debate.

While the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential running-mate Martha Karua brought her grandchildren to the presidential running-mates debate, her competitor showed up together with her wife Dorcas Wanjiku and his two children Kevin Gachagua and Keith Gachagua.

Although he did not delve much into the details of his family, Kenya Kwanza alliance presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua revealed that his last born son Kevin is a software engineer while Keith is a medical doctor by profession.

While little is known about Gachagua’s family, it has emerged that his last-born son Keith Gachagua emerged among the top performers in the 2010 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.

The 29-year-old alumnus of the famous Alliance High School was ranked 17 nationally and 13th top 100 male candidates after he scored an A plain of 86.92.

Keith later joined the University of Nairobi to pursue a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He graduated in 2019, an achievement that was praised by his father.

“After 30 years, I went back to the University at the graduation square this morning to witness the graduation of my last born son, Keith Ikinu Rigathi, who was awarded Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery,

“My wife and I were overwhelmed with excitement and indeed we are very proud parents,” Gachagua said as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke.

During the running mate debate, Gachagua raised a political storm after he promised to investigate state capture through a commission of inquiry.
